As part of the NM (wear resistant) steel series, NM450SP wear plate, “450” indicates that its Brinell hardness is about 450, and “SP” generally indicates enhanced or specialized performance characteristics, with high hardness and wear resistance, suitable for heavy machinery, engineering equipment and mining machinery.
NM450 VS NM450SP
NM450 and NM450SP are both high-strength, wear-resistant steel plates, but they differ significantly in wear resistance, material structure, and application suitability.
1. Wear Resistance: NM450SP has a considerably higher wear resistance than standard NM450. NM450SP includes titanium carbide (TiC) nanoparticles in its matrix, enhancing its wear resistance by approximately 1.6 times over NM450 at the same hardness level. These TiC nanoparticles make NM450SP better suited for highly abrasive environments, such as mining equipment and heavy-duty machinery.
2. High-Temperature and Impact Resistance: NM450SP also outperforms NM450 in terms of high-temperature and impact resistance. It can maintain structural stability at temperatures up to 800°C without softening or deforming, whereas NM450 is generally suited for conditions not exceeding 400-500°C. This makes NM450SP ideal for extreme high-temperature and high-impact scenarios.
3. Processing Performance: Both NM450 and NM450SP offer good weldability and cuttability, but NM450SP’s stability allows it to maintain its properties under more demanding processing conditions. This makes NM450SP advantageous for complex structures that require cutting and welding.
Applications
1. Construction machinery: used in excavators, loaders and bulldozers, especially bucket blades, sidewalls and bottom plates, NM450SP high manganese steel can significantly improve wear resistance and extend the service life of such machinery.
2. Mining and quarrying equipment: This steel is often used in mining machinery wear parts, such as crusher liners and mill liners, to withstand high wear environments such as ore processing.
3. Construction industry: Applied to steel structures that require wear resistance, such as concrete pump pipes and hoppers. NM450SP wear-resistant steel helps reduce wear frequency and maintenance costs.
4. Steel manufacturing equipment: Wear-resistant steel plates are used in chutes and conveying pipes for material transportation, which can reduce friction and wear, thereby improving equipment efficiency.
5. Recycling industry: NM450SP high manganese plates are used in recycling machinery, such as crushers and shears, which can effectively reduce wear during crushing and shearing.
